CHECK-IN and CHECK-OUT
Your arrival time is not a problem for us. If you can send us a message with your approximate arrival time, it would be great.
I would like to have a late check-out, is this possible?
We can offer a late check-out if the room you booked is available for the next day, but we cannot ensure its availability. Otherwise, we can block the room for an additional half day for an extra cost of 50% of your standard rate.
The check-out is at 11.00 am at the latest, your room will therefore be ready at the beginning of the afternoon. Of course, if the previous guests leave earlier than 11.00 am, we will make sure that you can get your room as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can use the common areas of Casa El Edén including our rooftop terrace and one of our two of our reading rooms. Otherwise, if you wish to use the room when you arrive, we can block the room for an additional half day for an extra cost.
SERVICES
At Casa El Edén, we propose a high personalized service. Here are some recommendations for day trips. Nevertheless, if you wish something different, just write an email and we will make our best to organize a perfect tour for you. For prices, please contact us.
- A tour to the Middle of the World (45 minutes from Quito) including an English speaking driver, private transportation to both museums (the main museum and Intiñán) and if you wish, you can extend this tour to the Pululahua crater. Entries and alimentation fees are not included.
- A tour to Otavalo and the Imbabura region (2 hours from Quito). You can visit different places as San Pablo lagoon, Yahuarcocha, Cotacachi, etc. This is a private tour, so you can decide with the guide the places you wish to discover. We can propose you a tour with an English speaking guide/driver who knows the region very well.
- For a city tour, we often recommend to our guests a free walking tour that is organized by Communitytravelgroup. This tour is based on tips. Or, we propose also a private walking tour, with an English speaking guide.
- A tour to Cotopaxi (2 hours from Quito) including an English speaking driver/guide, private transportation, special tax to enter to the park and a visit with a guide of the natural park.
- A tour to Mindo, a small town where you can do different activities; the main ones are: birds, butterflies and flowers as orchids observation. Mindo is also known for extreme sports as rafting, sailing, hiking, kanopi (this means crossing the top of one hill to another one in a steel cable; it is a unique experience!), etc.
OTHER CATEGORIES
The weather in Quito is difficult to predict. Mornings are generally comfortable (15°C to 24°C). Nevertheless, in the afternoon/night you will need a jacket because temperature goes down (10°C). Ponchos will be at your disposal in your room.
As on many other cities, in Quito you must be careful with your camera and value accessories. The center of Quito is safe to walk around.
You can leave your luggage at Casa El Edén without any additional charge. We will take care of it.
Casa El Edén is located at the heart of old town Quito in a colonial-style building. Unfortunately, this does not allow us to have our own car parking spaces. We can of course help you make the relevant arrangements with a secure car parking within walking distance of Casa El Edén (there are several options). The price of the parking is US$ 1-2 per hour.
CANCELLATION
For any cancellation made up to 48 hours before your scheduled check-in time, we do not charge any penalty. For cancellations made within 48 hours before the arrival time, we charge 50% of the overall cost of the stay (or 100% for non-refundable reservations). Nevertheless, we are a small familiar business and last-minute cancellations affect us – so if you know that you will not be able to travel, tell us as soon as possible.
At Casa El Edén, we can be flexible. Depending on your case, we will not charge the overall amount. In COVID cases, for example, we refund all cancellations – even non-refundable reservations. Write us !
SURROUNDING AREAS AND RESTAURANTS
Our recommendations for places to visit in Quito are:
- La Capilla del Hombre: a museum designed around the works of master painter and national hero Oswaldo Guayasamín (the whole building was designed by Guayasamín himself and is rather impressive – the views are nice).
- Casa del Alabado
- TelefériQo: a gondola lift that will take you to the Pichincha mountains. You can reach close to 4000 meters altitude without any major effort – but you can also take one of the hiking trails and reach higher altitudes. The views are breathtaking (assuming the weather is fair).
- We also recommend you visit a traditional food market.
- The Middle of the World can be also a good option. Only situated 45 minutes from Quito.
ROOMS
We would like to inform you that the weather in Quito is sunny and warm during the day, but afternoons and nights are cooler. This is because of Quito’s altitude (2700 meters/9252 feet). In Quito we do not need an air conditioning, but rather a heating system to keep warm during the night. At Casa El Edén, all rooms have a heating system.
Our Superior Rooms have outside windows that will allow you to refresh the room if the temperature increases.
Our Superior Rooms have a street view. These rooms are quiet because the noise coming from the street is very limited as we have double-glazed windows (in addition to our restored original windows). Of course, we cannot exclude that certain noises which are typical for a city center and cannot be blocked by double-glazed windows reach the rooms.
Rooms at Casa El Edén are only designed for 2 people. If you wish, we can add an extra bed for a child under 12-years-old for the cost of US$ 50 per night. Otherwise, we will be pleased to book another room for the third person and propose you a special discounted price.
Our Luxury Room have a queen size bed and the bathroom (sink, shower and bathtub) is separated from the rest of the bedroom, the toilette is also separated.
The Superior Room can be configurated either with a king size bed or 2 single beds (only 2 Superior Rooms can be twin). The shower and the sink are opened to the room (separated only by a frosted glass separation), but the toilette is totally separated from the bedroom and from the bathroom.
Our Standard Room with a queen size bed and a separate bathroom (shower, sink and toilette). This is our smallest room and has a courtyard view.
